Sydney’s Curtain Falls

Jack, Vaughn, SydAlias ended it’s 5-year run last night with a 2-hour series finale. On the plus side, I actually liked how they left everything at the end of the show… which is rare for me watching a series finale.

Syd & Vaughn
- live in a remote location on the beach to get away from things. Their daughter is shown to have the ability Sydney has a child… maybe a future series/movie? They also have another baby.

Jack – was shot and survived long enough to blow himself up to contain Sloan for eternity in Rambaldi’s underground chamber.

Sloan – obtained eternal life, but is now buried under rock because of Jack’s said explosion.

Dixon – is some type of Director at the CIA.

The show contained about as much storyline as you might typically see in an entire season of Alias… to me, that was a little much – although I understand why they did it. I just thought that maybe they should’ve made the last few episodes contain more story instead. The drama and suspense suffered because of everything they had to cram into the show.

Even though, it was nice to see how everything worked out and kind of came full circle. I sure will miss that show though. It’s currently the only show that I never missed an episode of… I was just really attached. I guess Lost is like that for me too – I’ve missed an episode before, but I sit down to watch it every week like it’s the only thing going on in my life. Yeesh… I need to get out more.

SIDE NOTE
Also in Monday night TV, Medium had it’s season finale which was also good. But the other highlight of the night for me (besides have to switch back and forth between Alias) was game 7 of Dallas vs. San Antonio. It ended up going to overtime and Dallas pulled it out to move on to the Western Conference Finals. Congrats to former Badger Devin Harris!

  1. I really liked the Alias finale as well. I thought they did a pretty good job of wrapping things up, but it did feel a little forced in some places. I hated to see Jack go, but had to admit he did it with some style!

  2. You know, one thing they didn’t mention is what Renee and Vaughn’s chips were all about – what did they do when put together? Maybe I’m just not remembering… or maybe the point was moot because the bad guys weren’t going to win anyway. It would’ve been nice to follow up more with the Prophet 5 / Vaughn’s Dad story though.

I see a book being published soon that maybe wraps up these points. I think there has been a half dozen books published already with side-stories in Alias… it would help to have one final book.

  3. Remember, the chips were put together and they provided a pinpoint (maybe Lat/Long) of the room where all of the Prophet 5 data was in the bank in Hamburg.

  4. Ah yes! Totally forgot about that.. What nice parents Renee and Vaughn had – burying computer chips in their chests…

I guess it did save the world though.
