To The Swamp

Spanish Moss in FloridaA lot’s been going on lately… even though each of us is imposingly insignificant, I’ve managed to go on with daily life…

First of all, Heather and I finished up the first stage of remodeling her house. We painted every wall and ceiling, carpeted, replaced lighting and have started adding new accessories… soon to come is a new kitchen table, wood blinds, paintings/pictures and frames (that I picked out of course - not cuz I’m gay - cuz I’m not gay - just have a good sense of decorating… not that there’s anything wrong with being gay - I’m just not.)

Anyway, it’s looking really nice. Landscaping, siding, garage cleaning, and more are on the list for this summer… but by next year, it’ll be a whole new place. I like it. Did I mention I’m moving in? Probably not, but I am. My lease is up at the end of July - so I’ll probably spend that whole month taking things down one at a time. I’m looking forward to life with her and Eli.

This weekend, Heather and I are going to Stevens Point to see her brother graduate college… I’m not sure what that’s like… I mean, I’ve been to college graduations before, just none of them were mine. The only thing that would qualify as a college graduation for me was for Madison Media Institute - but I was in bed with Mono for like a week and missed the ceremony…. no fun. Actually, I don’t know if it was mono. It might have been a tumor - just never got anything checked out, which in retrospect was probably not such a great idea.

So, although my anxiety doesn’t let me enjoy the entire process of a trip, I do love to take drives with Heather… pretty much anything I do with her is great - we just have a wonderful time being together doing anything. So, I’m looking forward to it.

Off to the swamp…. my Grandparents live in Florida and haven’t aged since they moved there 20 years ago. Evidently the humidity prevents your skin from aging… I don’t know - it’s weird… but I do know I want to retire there. At least during the winters.

So, Heather and I booked our trip during the first week in September. We’ll be there over Labor Day, staying in Kissimmee (emphasis on the -imm- not the -kiss-) at a beautiful hotel/condo thing… I don’t know, it’s a 2 bedroom fancy dancy place that Heather got a great deal on through work. I’m looking forward to getting away, getting rained on, seeing the grandparents, and maybe a park or 2. Four months away….

The reason I picked the picture for this post is because that’s actually how Florida looks to me. I’m not much for the beach, but my grandparents have a lot of trees like this with the Spanish moss in them… it’s beautiful. Although there’s been so many hurricanes that have gone right over them the past 2 years, I don’t know what’s left… we’ll see.

Here’s to gator nuggets.

Later.
