Getting Closer to The Beginning
Now, “the beginning” was technically when I moved in to my new place, but a week later I’ve still got some boxes out, waiting for a couch, and feeling disorganized. I spent last night setting up a new desk that I ordered. It wasn’t exactly the one that I wanted (my cherry/silver combo was sold out) – but it fits perfect in it’s spot and gives me plenty of space for my multiple computers plus room to write stack papers.
It’s good to have my main computer back. After over a month on my laptop, it took me several hours today getting all my software up-to-date, but it’s been well worth it. Sitting in front of my customized workspace makes me feel at home. Is that weird? Maybe, but it’s been like that for a long time. I have my little things that I use all day, sites I check… oh, you want an updated list of the stuff I use? Here’s the short list…
- I’ve replaced my bookmarking service with Blue Dot… it’s a great service and you can see my bookmarks on my Stuff page.
- Firefox of course, if you’re still using IE (even the new version 7), you have to switch.
- Plugins for Firefox too lengthy to name. I’m realizing lots of them have to do with GMail.
- Still using Remember the Milk for to-do lists.
- Google Calendar
- Pageflakes (switched to Netvibes for a while but I’m back after they released v2.0)
- A new purchase of Object Desktop.
- Rapid PHP, HTML-Kit, SQLyog, XAMPP and others while programming…
There’s more, including Skype which we’re now using at work… speaking of which, I need a new web cam…
Oh, I’ve also added a permanent link to my Amazon wish list on the sidebar of my Stuff page, so now when you people want to buy me something, you can just go ahead and get it. :)
I guess having my toys setup is helping me get moving forward with my new place. I’ll have a couch in the next couple of days, stuff up on the walls this week, oh – I got cable and internet Thursday, so that’s good. HowardTV – gotta love it.
I’ve been reading a good book over the past few days too… when I’m done I’ll probably write about it… but I’ve learned so much that I feel I almost have top-secret knowledge that I can’t share with anyone quite yet. We’ll see.
Well, if anyone’s in town and wants to stop by to check out the place, let me know. I’m here…
